Potential Benefits Of Using Green Coffee Bean Extract For Weight Loss As Part Of A Healthy Lifestyle

Coffee houses have recently introduced a new cold beverage. Currently available in either lime or raspberry flavor, it is offered as a way to recharge and refresh. One of the key ingredients in this new beverage is green coffee bean extract (GCBE). In some circles, the use of green coffee bean extract for weight loss is becoming popular.

There is a group of scientists in Scranton, Pennsylvania, who have been conducting research since 1998 into the benefits of drinking hot beverages like coffee and tea. In Spring 2012, they presented results indicating that the compound in GCBE that aids weight loss is a chemical cousin of chlorophyll. It is called chlorogenic acid. Subjects in their study experienced an overall loss of 16% body fat.

The mechanism by which chlorogenic acid is thought to promote weight loss is through slowing the rate of glucose absorption, forcing the body to utilize stored fat instead as an energy source. When the body start to break down its fat stores for energy, weight loss does happen faster. Skeptics attribute this effect to caffeine rather than chlorogenic acid. GCBE only contains half the caffeine as a strong cup of coffee.

Patients seeking cheap and easy ways to lose weight have been keeping their doctors busy for centuries. Greek physician, Soranus of Ephesus, could legitimately be described as the world's first bariatric specialist. Bariatrics is the study of weight loss. For his patients, he prescribed exercise, massage, heat, purgatives and laxatives. Perhaps surprisingly, these became the mainstay of treatment for over a thousand years.

By the late 1930s, amphetamines became popular as effective appetite suppressants. Unfortunately, these turned out to have dangerous cardiotoxic and addictive side effects. Following a spate of deaths in the 1960s, their use as a weight loss aid was discontinued.

For a while in the 1990s, a drug called Fen-Phen was fashionable with physicians and their patients as a treatment for obesity. It was named after its two active ingredients, fenfluramine and phentermine. This, too, proved dangerous and was withdrawn from the market in 1997 because of its connection with pulmonary hypertension and damage to heart valves.

Ephedra was the next trend in weight loss at the beginning of the 21st century. It is tantalizing to speculate that this was named in honor of the good doctor Soranus, from Ephesus. Eventually, Ephedra became linked with high blood pressure, stroke and deaths and was banned from use.

However promising the emerging data concerning green coffee bean extract for weight loss may appear to be, GCBE should be used with caution. All drugs are 'dirty' and have harmful side effects at high doses or over time. Drinking water in too high a concentration can be fatal. Green coffee bean extract contains thousands of different chemicals. Not all of them have been as thoroughly characterized as caffeine and, to a lesser extent, chlorogenic acid. Some of the GCBE preparations currently available over the Internet contain as much as 800 milligrams of coffee extract. People considering using this dietary supplement as an aid to losing weight should certainly consult their medical adviser. Enjoying the occasional refreshing, revitalizing iced beverage should be harmless to most people.

Does Your MLM Company Provide You With an Automated Marketing System?

Finally, multi-level and network marketing companies are taking a giant step forward in providing their downlines with automated marketing systems. They have moved into the 21st century and are using technology to help people build their network marketing businesses. I myself am involved in two companies who provide these automated marketing tools. These forward-thinking companies are taking the one-one-one coffee shop presentation out of Starbucks and onto the web with sites such as gotomeeting.com, where the same presentation can be given to a group all at once, instead of to one person at a time. These companies are finally recognizing the inefficiency of old-fashioned MLM marketing techniques and are doing things to help their network marketing business builders become successful more quickly and easily than ever before. Let's now talk about the automated marketing system that actually leads an interested prospect, step by step, to the desired end result of becoming a member of your network marketing downline.

So, what exactly IS an automated marketing system? Usually it contains a few key components. The first and most important component of the system is a lead capture page, also known as a landing page. This is a web page that someone may visit as a result of advertising, either online or offline, to find out more information about a product, service or business. Usually on the lead capture page of the automated marketing system there is some cleverly written copy, or perhaps a video for them to watch, that will cause the person to want more information and go further down the line toward becoming a member of your organization. A very important feature of the lead capture page is the opt-in form. This form asks the person viewing the site to provide you with his or her name, email address, and if you would like, even their phone number, before you give them more information. That is really exciting, because this one step, and whether or not they choose to take it, is what separates the information gatherers from the people who are hot for whatever it is you have to offer. Do you realize the importance of what I just wrote? The people who fill out the opt-in form have raised their hands and showed you that they are very interested in what you have to offer, and they are giving you permission to market to them. Each person who opts in to your site becomes what is known as a pre-qualified lead, which means they have just pre-qualified themselves as an interested prospect! That has just eliminated most of the work for you in finding out who really wants to hear your story and who doesn't. With that one landing page, how many people did you have to speak to in order to obtain their contact information? In most cases, absolutely no one! Sure, in some instances you will speak to someone in the course of your day and verbally send them to your site (landing page). Even right there in that one step do you see how the conversation has changed? You are not trying to sell the whole idea right there and set up another meeting with them, you are just sending them somewhere to get more information on their own, and if they want to know more, they will let you know! More importantly though, with this automated lead generating marketing system, once you get all the components up and running and you are driving traffic to your site (more about that in a forthcoming article), it is on autopilot for you! Are you beginning to understand how valuable this type of automated marketing system can be?

Once the reader has opted in to receive more information, this is where the MLM companies with automated marketing systems truly deliver. Some really great companies provide you, the network marketer, with really great marketing pieces that explain the business to the prospect in one or a series of videos, and they provide a way for the prospect to take action. By that I mean there is usually a link for them to sign up or go onto your waiting list, making it virtually effortless for you to bring them under you in your downline. If they don't sign up then and there, though, all is not lost. That is where the next key component of a good automated marketing system comes into play.

The next important part of an automated marketing system is what is known as an autoresponder. Remember when your prospect opted in to your marketing system to learn more about your business? Well, they handed you valuable information about themselves - their name, their email address, and depending on the opt in form, their phone number. The autoresponder enables you to collect those email addresses and keep them stored in a database so that you can easily send follow up emails to them as a group, instead of sending out individual emails. Guess what else autoresponders can do? You can set up a series of emails and designate on which days you will send them to each prospect, even if they were added to the database on different days! So, you only have to write them once, the autoresponder takes care of the rest. It is sheer genius. One example of an autoresponder site is aweber.com. There are others as well. Better yet, the MLM and network marketing companies who are providing you with automated marketing systems usually have an autoresponder in place for you as part of that marketing system!

Ultimately, a good MLM automated marketing system drives your prospects to join a live recruiting webinar that is usually done by the master marketers of the company, using sites like gotomeeting.com or gotowebinar.com. This is invaluable to you, because let's face it, anyone in the beginning of their network marketing career isn't very savvy at giving the presentation and making conversions happen; that comes with practice and listening to the masters.

By using all the components described above in an automated marketing system to build your MLM or network marketing business, you can see that many more opportunities for people to sign up with you are provided. It no longer depends on that 5 minute conversation you have with them on a chance meeting in the course of your day.

Capitalism Simplified

John Brown was a tailor. He had been apprenticed at the age of thirteen years and had worked hard at his craft all of his life until, by the time he was forty, he owned his own shop and was making a modest living for his family and for the three journeyman tailors who worked for him. Then Elias Howe invented the sewing machine.

John Brown was not a Luddite. Rather than resist innovation, he borrowed a hundred pounds from a money lender and used it to purchase three of the new machines. He then hired three girls from the village to operate the machines and, in six months, John Brown was turning out five times as much clothing as he had before, enabling him to easily pay off the hundred pound loan with interest. Furthermore, since every seam was lock stitched, the product was far superior to anything that he and his three journeyman tailors had ever been able to produce by hand.
And what of those three journeyman tailors? Harry Black, William Green, and George White, following John Brown's lead, each borrowed a hundred pounds and bought three sewing machines of their own, each hiring three village girls as operators. The competition forced John Brown to lower his prices, in turn forcing Black, Green, and White to lower theirs. Thus twelve village girls had more money with which to buy better clothes at a lower cost.

Harry Black was not a meticulous man, and he failed to train his operators properly, resulting in many mistakes. His product, therefore was inferior to that of Brown, Green, and White, and his scrap cost was higher. As his sales and his revenue dropped, he tried to compensate by purchasing cheaper, inferior cloth from the weaver, thus further reducing the quality of his product. Competition from Brown, Green, and White prevented him from raising his prices to cover his losses, and at the end of the first year, Harry Black went out of business. His three operators found ready employment with Brown, Green, and White, who added a sewing machine apiece to compensate for the loss of Harry Black's contribution to the market.

The pressures of competition induced William Green to look for ways to increase the productivity of his four operators. He noticed that they spent almost half their time cutting patterns, a task that could be handled by someone less skilled than a sewing machine operator. Green therefore hired eight pattern makers to feed precut patterns to his sewing machine operators, thus doubling his output and easily paying for the increased payroll. When faced with Green's competitive edge, Brown and White were forced to follow suit, thereby adding twenty-four more villagers who had the means to buy the increased output of clothing.

George White was a man with an inventive turn of mind, and he found an even more profitable way of meeting his competition. Elias Howe's sewing machine was powered by a hand crank, allowing the operator only one hand to guide the cloth into the needle. George White hired the local blacksmith to fashion a long crank arm attached to a foot treadle, enabling the operator to power the machine with her foot and use both hands to position the work piece as she sewed. The result was a phenomenal increase in operator output. George White patented his idea and he and the blacksmith borrowed money and founded the White Sewing Machine Company, which manufactured foot powered sewing machines and sold them to Brown and Green and to tailoring shops all over the world. thereby reducing the cost of clothing for everyone

Capitalism is an awesome machine. The process of borrowing money and using it in the pursuit of personal profit inevitably results in increased wealth for the public at large. Moreover, Capitalism creates competition, which improves quality by automatically culling inferior producers from the marketplace. Furthermore, Capitalistic competition automatically generates innovation and invention, which not only increases the wealth available to the public but lowers the cost.

Three hundred years ago, wealth consisted of land and gold. The Industrial Revolution spawned a flurry of intellectual and economic activity that relegated that world to the trash heap of history. In the twenty-first century, wealth is defined as the product of Capitalism.

Leadership Coaching: 5 Undesirable Traits Of Leadership

Over the ages, leadership has been studied, defined and redefined. At some point, leadership was connoted with autocracy, with obedience and loyalty as salient characteristics. Then came a time when leadership was characterized as a collaborative and participative effort. Ultimate power did not depend on one person alone. Concepts of leadership as evolved through the years, and today, it is construed that an effective leader needs to possess several traits. There are also several unlikeable traits of effective leadership that leaders must avoid. What are undesirable traits to avoid in leadership?

5 Traits To Avoid In Leadership

  • Stubborness. It's shutting doors and not acknowledging how other people see things. This negative leadership trait is a definite culture killer wherein possibly valuable discussions and participation are curtailed. Such a closed attitude in leadership is one- dimensional, passé and isn't likely to bring any progress.

  • No Personal Accountability. There is no room for the blame game in effective leadership. If something goes wrong, a good leader puts himself/ herself on the dock.

  • Overconfidence. Confidence is essential in leadership, but a leader has to be wary about being overconfident. Leadership is keen wherein it knows its own potential as well as the potential of the team. It's not all talk, but no action in leadership. Being in the limelight of leadership does not permit somebody to engage in a self promoting brag- fest session. Leadership that takes action sets goals, makes plans and acts accordingly. It is quite unpleasant to listen to a leader that is too ambitious.

  • Stagnating. New technologies come out in the market almost everyday, and a leader has to know how to keep up. Technology can be used to maximize the potential of a leadership. Using old- fashioned methods will stagnate a leadership until it is left behind. Leadership has to be dynamic and it moves with the times. Adaptation will make a leadership thrive and progress.

  • Lack of Focus. Being focused will make a leadership achieve its goals. The team will be scattered if the leadership is incoherent and disorganized. There has to be full concentration when doing the task at hand. Effective leadership also knows how to motivate and inspire the team.

A leader has to possess the right traits and avoid manifesting these undesirable traits of leadership. The character of a leadership determines how efficient, effective and successful it will be. There's openness to the ideas and contributions of team members and there is personal accountability for errors and mistakes. Confidence in leadership makes it strong wherein it moves forward with focus and adapting to the trends of the business.

How Lab Automation Has Evolved

Robotic automation technology is a common feature of biomedical testing. The adoption of this mechanization by academic institutions definitely increased in modernistic years and this fashion is set to resume. Twenty years back, the authority of automated devices in the lab environment was starting to be perceived as a useful idea. Our first episode with laboratory robotic machines was via the use of liquid-handling devices that manifests crystalline compounds. My role was to design software for the system and commit numerous hands-on actions to acquire this but the device did serve its objective.

The automated devices field of reference was further augmented during the period an enzymologist assumed responsibility for recording parasitic agents. The process itself turned out to be tedious and needed a great deal of hands-on contribution from the engineer that intensely bounded the output of the system. By employing the automated liquid-handler communicated before the throughput of the architecture was almost trebled and the span of lab robotics was born. Attraction to lab automation consequently increased and its appliance became a common place in every chemistry laboratory. Departments designed and established automation facilities for each subdivision of the company's work with a lot of these sectors receiving distinction over other divisions. To that moment a number of mechanisms where created locally because of the fact automated device makers hadn't at that time been corroborated. Many companies at that time further inflated their facilities to the whole base and had their science included in each and every position of the enterprise. Utilizing these robots thousands of compounds had the ability to be tested in one day, allowing them to undertake testing on a massive scale.

Enthusiasm soon shifted from tactical operations right through to the industry of augmenting automated devices that combined both, the hardware component and the software programming aspect of these machines. The purpose of their contemporary technology was to collect and examine data without the need for abstract interaction or information. Now that this field has increased, the need for businesses to undertake this task privately reduced in size and corporations started to outsource these roles. Engineers quickly became experienced in the field of biochemical science as well as the science of business growth and investment. Through involvement with other bodies, the opportunity arose for profession development as well as blossoming a stronger understanding of the automation they worked on.

There turned out to be an increasing requirement to improve the use of automation in preparation stages for laboratory testing and sampling. Test systems had to be created that required reduced input by testing room technicians and automated specialists. Adopting these hypotheses and with the objective of applicability to live-environment tasks, automatic machines have went from nowhere to being prominent and the area for the next few years is describable. I am excited to be working with this technology at this time and I hope to further advance my own findings in the future. This will be one of a series of articles on this matter.
